What is that smell after the UV cycle?

This smell is an alternation of the dead skin cell and dust particles by the UV-C light. 
The intensity of the odor varies by the dust particle in the household, and with the air purifies, the smell should slowly diminish.  

This following information is outdated and inaccurate, we have confirmed that UV-C does NOT produce Ozone and the smell does not identified as Ozone. The previous calculation were based on the wrong light that produces Ozone. 

Why does it have a smell after the sterilization?

The keen smell is the oxidizing effect when the ultraviolet light transfers oxygen into ozone via photolysis.

What is Ozone?
On daily basis, we experience ozone (03) at ground level when pollutants emitted by vehicles, power plants, industrial boilers, refineries, chemical plants and other sources chemically react in the presence of sunlight. Ozone at ground level is likely to reach unhealthy levels on hot sunny days in urban environments.

How much ozone does Wabi Baby UV Sterilizer produce? 
Based on our 3rd party test report, it produces no more than 0.005 ppm based on the standard UV operation set at either 5 or 10 minutes.

What does 0.005ppm mean?
Though there is no official standard or regulation on ozone level in consumer appliance in the US at this time. US Environmental Protection Agency has some regulatory requirements for the air quality standards through the national and regional level to protect the public health and the environment.

US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
According to the most updated 2015 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQA) for ground-level ozone specify that the primary (health-based) including the "sensitive" populations such as asthmatics, children, and the elderly, and secondary (1) (welfare-based) ozone standard levels to 0.070(2) parts per million (ppm), and retained their indicators (O3), forms (fourth-highest daily maximum, averaged across 3 consecutive years) and 8 hours of averaging times .

Home Ozone Test Kit
According to most Home Ozone test kits, constant ozone levels under 0.05 ppm are considered good air quality. Moderate levels sit between 0.05ppm~0.075ppm. For the sensitive groups, constant exposure to an ozone level over 0.075~0.105ppm can be dangerous. 

Our UV produce 0.005ppm per 5/10 min., it is a very small number in comparison to EPA's safe ozone exposure standard of 8 hours of daily 0.07ppm exposure for 3 consecutive years.

Though we are very confident in the safety of our product, we understand every home setting is unique and every individual health concern is different. We strongly recommend customers to always consult with your doctor if you have any health issues before the use of this product.
