The life of a UV bulb is approximately 6000 hours. This translates usually from 6 months to a year of life. It is possible that the bulbs could also last for a shorter or longer amount of time. This all depends on the frequency of usage.
When replacing UV bulbs, it is recommended that both bulbs are replaced at the same time. This ensures maximum efficiency when sterilizing. It also ensures that one bulb is not drawing too much power from the other bulb, resulting in shorter bulb life.
There are a couple of ways to tell if the bulbs need replacing:
- One or both bulbs stop lighting up during the sterilization cycle.
- No other factors have changed, and items stop drying as well.
